Coaches,

I wanted to send this email out as we have a lot of new coaches, especially at the younger levels.  For those of you that are looking for coaching classes, here is the link:

Upcoming USA Hockey CEP Coaching Classes

Reminder the majority of the classes are virtual, so you can choose any state.

The classes have to be taken consectively, if this is your:

  • 1st year you must take the Level 1 Class
  • 2nd - Level 2
  • 3rd - Level 3
  • 4th - Level 4

Furthermore, attached are the guidelines to becoming a coach.  These all are required and must be completed ASAP or you can't be on the ice or behind the bench.

Thank you to those that have already completed.

Hi All,

Please see the message below from Mike Bonelli.  We have been talking about progression based practices and drills.  He is looking to put some drills together in CoachThem so we have them available for our practices.

I can share but if coaches want specific activities and can implement them they are more impactful. Will share what I have and go from there.

Also, for age specific progression drills their are a lot of options to put these together and would want to make sure they would be used and implemented.  Can each age group give me a better idea on what they need?

8U  - do they want / need a plan for how many practices and what focus (general skills and games based curriculum would be my suggestion)

10U - do they want / need a plan for how many practices and what focus (general skills and games based curriculum would be my suggestion)

12U - do they want / need a plan for how many practices and what focus (general skills and games based curriculum would be my suggestion)

14U – from what I gathered not sure this group would really want or need any suggestions on practice planning and skills development

Let me know and I will put these out asap as most are complete for each age group and just need to be tweaked for number of players, coaches, support, goalies and ice allocation.

This is a resource that we have available to us, please let Mike know what you need.

Mike can be reached at:

Thanks,

Travis
